Personally I find the “la Ruta Maya” event interesting. I am a person who is totally about physical fitness and I’m willing to take on any challenge and I never back down from anything. With that being said this events captures my attention. Physical fitness is present in this event for sure; imagine sliding into a 20 foot canoe every morning for four days and paddling at 70 strokes a minute for 6 hours at a stretch under the tropical sun, for a total of 180 miles along the historic Belize River. Now imagine competing against 85 other canoes that has 3 dedicated athletes who all have their eyes on the prize.
I live in Vista del Mar, I went to Bermudian Landing to follow the race at which was one of the livelier camp spots. The community welcomed its guests with food stalls and music. If you're traveling by road, Bermudian Landing is about 10 miles away from Burrell Boom. Burrell boom is about 9 miles from vista del Mar. upon arrival in Burrell Boom, I was hanging out with a class mate where we wonder the land and watch the racers come in. I had to say that it was hype and who did not go themselves involved in the event totally missed out from a handful.
